Course Objectives

Course Description: 

Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RODBT) is a new evidence based treatment that targets a spectrum of disorders characterized by excessive self-control, often referred to as over control (OC), such as refractory depression, anorexia nervosa, and obsessive compulsive personality disorder. Participants will learn RODBT’s biosocial theory, its basic principles of radical openness and social signaling, and clinical guidelines for assessing,  targeting, and intervening with problems with OC.  Experiential exercises, discussion, and guidance will be employed as a means for learning this treatment’s practical application.

Learning Objectives – at the end of this conference, participants will be able to:

  1.  Distinguish between overcontrolled and undercontrolled client presentations
  2. Explain the key mechanism of change in RODBT
  3. Identify and explain the 5 OC Behavioral Themes
  4. Practice how to target maladaptive social signals
  5. Explain the difference between fixed, fatalistic and flexible mind
  6. Practice self-enquiry
