Dr Sophie Rushbrook is a Clinical Psychologist and owner of S C Rushbrook Ltd, a private company in which she carries a clinical and supervisory caseload, from around the world.
Up until 2025, Dr Rushbrook was a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Head of the Intensive Psychological Therapy Service in Dorset. This is a tertiary service for adults with severe and complex difficulties in the community who are, or have been, suicidal and/or self-harming.
In over thirty years of mental health clinical work, Dr Rushbrook has seen clients with a broad spectrum of difficulties, including:
- Eating disorders
- Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Treatment-resistant depression
- Complex anxiety
- Suicidal behaviour, in both overcontrolled and undercontrolled clients
RO-DBT Expertise
Dr. Rushbrook was the Clinical Site Lead for the Dorset arm of the multi-centre REFRAMED Trial, which evaluated the effectiveness and mechanisms of Radically Open Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (RO-DBT) for individuals with treatment-refractory depression and comorbid overcontrolled personality disorders.
Since 2011, she has received intensive training and supervision directly from Professor Thomas Lynch, the developer of RO-DBT. As a clinician on the pilot site, she was the first to conduct individual sessions and co-facilitated the initial skills classes.
Dr. Rushbrook is among the first clinicians to be formally endorsed as an RO-DBT trainer and supervisor, and she has supervised RO-DBT therapists since 2015. She has also delivered numerous intensive training courses, including joint sessions with Professor Lynch.
