Jimmy Portner, LISW-S, LICDC-CS, BCD, is a clinician, educator, and trainer with over two decades of experience in social work, spanning direct practice, program development, and professional training. He specializes in the implementation, supervision, and instruction of several Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs).
Jimmy is a certified introductory trainer in Radically Open-DBT (RO-DBT), a groundbreaking EBP that he has practiced since 2014. As co-founder of Radically Open Connections, he works to broaden access to RO-DBT through dynamic training, consultation, and community engagement. His approach reflects a longstanding commitment to openness, authenticity, and bridging clinical excellence with relational depth.
An alumnus of The Ohio State University, Jimmy earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work. He currently serves as an adjunct professor at the OSU College of Social Work, where he mentors and teaches aspiring professionals with a focus on rigor, inclusivity, and values-based practice.
