This skills-based approach is about learning to be open to yourself, to others, and to your feelings in a way that helps you grow. It helps you deal with things like shame, self-criticism, and fear of judgment in a healthier way. Instead of avoiding difficult feelings, you learn how to face them and still move forward. The goal is to help you become more aware of your emotions and behavior, to help you open up and connect more deeply with others, and to make more positive changes in your life. You’ll also get better at accepting feedback and using it to grow, which can be really helpful if you’ve struggled with feeling stuck or misunderstood. This therapy may be for you if the following traits are getting in your way: perfectionism, excessive self-control, rigid rule following, need for order & structure, hyper-vigilance, chronic depression, treatment resistant anxiety, obsessive compulsive personality disorder, autism spectrum disorders . Benefits of therapy and class skills include flexibility and openness, greater emotional expression, and increased social connectedness.
