Live Level 3

The goal of the Live Level 3 workshop is to consolidate your learning from Levels 1 and 2, to deepen your knowledge and to practice, practice, practice!

The RO DBT Practitioner Pathway is the full Level 3 training for clinicians who wish to treat clients via individual sessions as well as skills training classes. Full attendance results in a certificate for 22 CE's.

This Level 3 training aims to put your theoretical learning from Levels 1 and 2 into practice. This means you will be doing lots of role-plays and other exercises with a group of 20-30 fellow clinicians.

Below is a full list of Learning Objectives:

  1. Use self-enquiry to identify any energy you experience and ask yourself ‘What is there to learn?’
  2. List the most important topics to be covered during the four sessions of the Orientation and Commitment phase of the treatment.
  3. Role-play the three scripts from the orientation and commitment phase: the OC Self-Identification script, the bio-social theory of overcontrol script, and the key mechanism of change script.
  4. Differentiate between typical overcontrolled and undercontrolled suicidal behavior.
  5. Identify valued goals for yourself and your clients to help guide treatment targeting.
  6. Use therapeutic teasing as a way to provide feedback to your client without getting too heavy handed about it.
  7. Identify an alliance rupture and apply the alliance rupture and repair protocol.
  8. Use the skills manual to teach your clients RO skills and review their homework using the handouts and worksheets.
  9. Demonstrate how to manage maladaptive social signals in RO Skills class, such as a quiet classroom, non-participation during ‘participating without planning’ exercises, engaging in Don’t Hurt-Me responses or engaging in a personal attack in class.
  10. Apply RO DBT protocols for managing non-completion of homework or requests to pass during homework review.
  11. Demonstrate the use of ‘Therapeutic Induction of Social-Responsibility’ when clients’ in-class behavior is negatively impacting the learning of others.
  12. Identify treatment targets based on the five OC themes using the eight steps for individualizing treatment targets.
  13. Identify maladaptive social signals that occur in session and use the eight steps for in-session targeting to address these in treatment.
  14. Explain why and when you and your client should demonstrate social signals to one another.
  15. Identify the social signalling target for the chain analysis based on the diary card.
  16. Role-play conducting chain analyses.
  17. Identify coping skills for your clients to prevent future occurrences of maladaptive social-signals and to live a ‘life worth sharing’.
  18. Role-play teaching skills as solutions for maladaptive social signaling behaviors
